Eric Eckes has continued his successful appellate practice recently with two big post-conviction wins. Eric successfully obtained federal habeas relief for a client convicted of murder in state court in Troy, Ohio. Eric has continued to litigate the case in state court. In addition, Eric recently secured a new sentencing for a client in Butler, County Ohio convicted of multiple counts of rape. Eric filed a post-conviction relief petition, which was granted after Eric was able to show that the original sentence was based, in part, on an incorrect criminal history. Many developments followed including the original sentencing judge recusing himself for being biased at the original sentencing.
