Martin S. Pinales, along with the Honorable Edward C. Prado, Judge for the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, were invited by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of International Information Programs to speak in Madrid, Spain on September 6, 2016. They spoke at three different programs.
The first presentation was held at the US Embassy where Mr. Pinales and Judge Prado spoke to lawyers, government officials and academics who are members of the Transparency International Spain (“TI Spain) on the topic “U.S. Judicial Independence and Transparencies in the Courts.” TI Spain is an international, nongovernmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization dedicated to combating corruption at the national and international levels.
They also presented on “The Role of the Judiciary in the U.S. Political System” at The Foundation for Research in Law and Business, a Spanish International Business Association.
Later in the day, Mr. Pinales and Judge Prado spoke to a program made up of Spanish judiciary interested in International Cooperation on the topic of “The Role of the Judiciary in the U.S. Political System” under Chantham House rules.
